Changing the Future of Black Maternal & Infant Health

Every mother deserves to be seen.
Every baby deserves the best beginning.

Why we exist

Every baby deserves a full belly. Every parent deserves a full village.

Brown Bellies & Babies, Inc. was created because too many Black families begin parenthood carrying more than the joy of a new baby—they carry barriers to healthcare, education, resources, and support. While the challenges are real, so is the power of a community that refuses to let families walk alone.

That's why we're here.

We surround parents with culturally rooted doula care, life-changing education, essential resources, mental health support, and trusted community connections. We invest in the next generation of Black birth workers, advocate for healthier beginnings, and help families thrive—not just survive.

Because when we care for parents, we strengthen families. When we strengthen families, we transform communities. And when a community shows up together, every baby has a better beginning.

We are not waiting for the system to change. We are building the care our families should have had all along — and demanding the system match it.

Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women.

80%

Of those deaths are preventable with respectful, continuous, culturally rooted care.

Black infants are twice as likely to die before their first birthday.
